I’m Katie, mum of one, Happiness Trainer & baking addict.
I would be fair to say my journey to becoming a Happiness Trainer (I work in schools specifically)probably begins way back in the 1980’s. Growing up in a family with a parent with mental health issues, my default setting was that it was somehow my fault or that I wasn’t good enough. I found it hard to accept compliments or positivity without feeling like an imposter about to be found out for being worthless or unlovable.
I trundled through life bearing this burden, and was blessed with a beautiful daughter in 2013.
I opened my own family/baby focussed business a year later in 2014, only to call it quits in 2017 - another failure, yet another reason I just wasn’t good enough.
By this point I’d known Jo for a couple of years & my ‘baby’ was now a ‘big’ girl off to school. I’d notice how often my daughter would relate a story, incident or comment from the children around her and I began to wonder what we could achieve (as a society!) if our children didn’t have to bear the emotional crosses that many of us have.
To feel powerful in the face of often overwhelming feelings feels to me like the most precious gift we can give to our children, infact all the children of the world.
And that’s why I became a Happiness Trainer - it’s changed how I see my own story, I now feel good enough just as I am, no ifs, no buts, no maybes and I feel passionate to spread this wonderful message, there are so many children who need it.

I lived away for many years and started a family with my then husband, after our relationship broke down, I returned to Wales. My girls have been my primary focus for more than a decade and I am very proud of the well-rounded individuals that they are becoming. Returning to Wales and my family support network, enabled me to further my education and undertake a degree in family and childhood studies, which leads me to the present day.

I have been interested in resilience for as long as I can remember. Academic study allowed me to expand my knowledge further in this field, I was particularly fascinated by the impact of adverse childhood experiences. Throughout my own life I have faced a variety of adversities, it was during a life changing period of ill health that I met Jo. I benefited first hand from her resilience workshops and online Happiness Club. As my studies concluded, I seized the opportunity to train with Jo and become a part of the team. I am passionate about the benefit and importance of educating both adults and children with the knowledge, tools and techniques to live a happier, stronger and more resilient life. Seeing the impact that delivering these workshops has on people both young and old, fills me with immeasurable joy.

My corporate career was extremely fulfilling and challenging, but with it came being overworked, burnt out and stressed and I did not have the tools to manage this.
Work related stress is the number one reason for sick leave. I decided to train as a resilience coach to help people with similar corporate backgrounds so that they able to recognise the early signs of stress and anxiety, understand where it comes from, how it manifests, how to manage it and give people tools and techniques to work through it.
In addition, I'm a mum to a 6 year old. I see how strained and stressed he is with school and life expectations. Life is tough for our children. We were not given the tools to manage stress and anxiety as children, which carries through to adulthood. I decided to train in the schools emotional management programme so that I'm able to deliver these tools to our future generations.

SUZANNE
Covering Midlands
Hello! My name is Suzanne and I now live in the Midlands with my son after 23 years teaching Freediving and SCUBA Diving in Egypt.
I am also a Reiki Master Practitioner, Yoga teacher and Hypnotherapist.
I studied Business, Finance and Marketing in Bristol. Working at Lloyds Bank, an Engineering company and
Elizabeth Shaw chocolate company as a marketing assistant, Executive PA, Brand Manager for Chewits fruit sweets and finally trade Marketing Executive for Elizabeth Shaw.
I always coped well under pressure, until I didn't anymore. Hair loss, psoriasis, bruxism which meant I had to sleep with a gum guard, sleep issues, relationship tensions, excess weight gain and depression.
A pile up on the motorway was my wake up call that I didn't want to live like this anymore.
Through freediving I found my inner peace and calm, through teaching I learnt how to help others find theirs too.
Going on my Reiki Journey led to another awakening of my empathic abilities offering another intuitive level of support for my clients.
In 2014 while 4 months pregnant I spent 6 weeks in India becoming a certified Yoga teacher.
Now back in the UK I'm ready to start my next journey sharing all the knowledge I have learnt from Jo in the extensive Happiness Club training and Hypnotherapy.
I am looking forward to using my range of skills and knowledge to help more people be happier in their everyday lives.

MELANIE
Covering North Wales and West Cheshire
I'm on a mission to help people FEEL FAB on the inside and out! A twelve-year corporate background in financial services, led me to quickly find my passion in helping others to develop. Nothing lights me up more than seeing others have an OMG moment! I'm very proud of many awards I received in the workplace due to my dedication to help others become better versions of themselves, not only improving their performance but also their fulfilment and happiness in work.
Ironically, my dedication to my career led to unbalanced energy and burnout. This low point was the turnaround that enabled reflection and understanding of where things had gone wrong
and how, with better self-care this could have been avoided.Being a mother and a nana, with ages spanning from 3 to 30 years, including step-children, our own fertility journey and pure miracles of life, I have, and still experience the challenges of parenthood and supporting our young ones through turbulent times. Also, being a voluntary Dementia Friend Ambassador working with organisations including schools in North Wales, we are not only creating dementia friendly communities but also changing generations from the young to those with more life experience. I'm so excited to be able to further support others to reduce health risks by sharing the Happiness Club tools for improved lifestyle choices and building resilience effectively.

CLARE
Covering North East
Hi – I’m Clare and I live in Northumberland with my son and two beautiful greyhounds.
I originally got involved with The Happiness Club for my own personal development, enjoying the daily strategies and the members webinars.
In my corporate role, I have the opportunity to volunteer to support schools in my role as a Business Ambassador. I absolutely adore these days and the look on the faces of children learning something new. After Covid I could see a definite decline in the mental health of the children, so I knew I wanted to be part of the solution.
My background is Learning and Development, so when Jo gave me the opportunity to train as a Happiness Club Trainer, it seemed like a no brainer.
I had already qualified as a Mental Health First Aider (England) years before, so delivering sessions to businesses to empower their staff ticked all my boxes.
However my real passion is the mental Health of our children. As a busy mam, I see first hand the stresses and strains that my son goes through on a daily basis, managing his emotions, friendships and expectations. I wanted to learn the tools to support him and replicate that so he has tools and techniques that he can use throughout his life.
My hope for the future is to teach children young so that they can also be part of the solution of the debilitating increase in Mental Health issues.

Covering North West
Hi, I’m Suzanne and I am based in the North West.
I am a mum to 2 boys and have worked as an HR professional for the past 11 years. I am also a Mental Health First Aider.
Working in such a people focussed profession has really shown me the importance of having mental resilience in order to deal with stress in a more positive way.
I first became passionate about personal development and mindset work in 2012 after suffering a serious injury in a car accident. Through no fault of my own, my life changed overnight, and I had to learn to adjust to my new normal and start to become thankful for the little things in life.

NIKKI
Covering North West
Hi, I'm Nikki and I cover the North West. I am a mum of a boy and a girl. My daughter has autism and ADHD so I have witnessed the difficulties that children can have with their mental health, especially those with additional needs.
I have a teaching qualification and have previously taught adults on NVQ's and apprenticeships at all levels, mostly in customer service and business administration sectors. I saw the pressure that some of the employees were under in the workplace. I also train teaching assistants in schools and see the effects that mental health problems can have on children.
